He brings to the music industry, what he calls on his website, “an untapped source of music with unlimited potential.” Shimabukuro’s astounding technical skills and revolutionary ukulele techniques has rendered audiences across the world speechless.
With traditional ukulele and Hawaiian music as his foundation, Shimabukuro continues to ignite interest in the ukulele in music scenes across the world with both original songs and his versions of some favorites, including “Stairway to Heaven.” His 2006 album, Gently Weeps, won the 2007 Na Hoku Hanhano “Instrumental Album of the Year” Award, and Shimabukuro was the first ukulele player of Hawaii to sign with Epic Records International/Sony Music International. The impressive list of his awards and honors can be viewed on his website.
